Do you love coffee, but not sure which cafes to try out in Tokyo? We are two people who absolutely LOVE coffee, and after spending 50 days in Japan, here are some of our top recommendations for Tokyo Coffee Shops!
1. Koffee Mameya Kakeru (Koto City)
Reservations are strictly required at this specialty coffee shop. If you’re looking for a fancy coffee experience, but with the highest quality, this is your spot. Definitely a place where you’ll need to splurge a bit, but the coffee is impressive and the ambience is top notch. Great place for couples to go on a date and engage in pleasant conversation. Their coffee cocktails are some of the best we’ve ever had. They have coffee from all over the world and provide concierge level service to their patrons. We loved this place, but couldn’t afford to go here evey day
2. Allpress Espresso Tokyo Roastery & Cafe (Koto City)
This cafe is located in a nice neighborhood and even though you’re in Tokyo, it feels like you’re outside the big city. There isn’t a lot of space to sit down, but it’s a high quality shop that brews their own coffee. They appear to have different chains located in the UK, New Zealand, and Singapore, but has the feel of a local establishment. The building is super cool, and we dug the ambience. Also there is no WiFi here, but if you’re looking for an awesome cup of Joe, look no further!
3. Mafumi Coffee (Chiyoda City)
This coffee shop has the most amazing ambience and would highly recommend this to anyone passing through Tokyo. Seating is limited, but once you enter, you’re in for a real treat. On the lower level there is a bar where the servers are busy serving delicious coffee’s. On the top level, there are books aplenty. The setting is intimate and quaint. Try their desert too! It hits the spot and was the perfect way to round out our outing
4. Blue Bottle Coffee (Shibuya)
This cafe is also a chain and reminded us of Starbucks. The place is ideal for using WiFi and they have quality coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. Plenty of space! This particular location had two levels and was situated in a nice neighborhood near a tiny neighborhood park.
5. Good Good Not Bad (Shibuya)
This is a small cafe with modern vibes. They have retro music typically playing. Would categorize this as an upscale coffee chain. We originally stumbled upon in Kyoto and was excited to find another in Shibuya. The quality of the coffee is very good, and they have a several different beans you can choose from.
6. Latte Art Mania Tokyo (Minato City)
This place had great quality coffee, as well as matcha latte’s. Their baristas are not just baristas, but incredible artists who create elaborate designs. Very impressive.
