Enjoy this full review of Ästad Vingård below!
Like many of you, seeing the Northern Lights has always been on our bucket list. When we learned that 2025 was going to be a solar maximum year (expected to have more impressive and frequent auroras than usual), we decided to start researching places to see them.
We learned that one of the places where you are statistically most likely to see the Northern Lights is Swedish Lapland! Learn more about catching the Northern Lights in Swedish Lapland here.
We anticipated traveling quite a bit to chase the Northern Lights, so we wanted to find a place where we could relax and recharge our batteries before getting back on the road.
After some extensive research, we stumbled on Ästad Vingård located in the quaint town of Tvååker.
Ästad Vingård – Getting There
From Atlanta, we flew to Copenhagen, rented a car, and drove a couple hours to the Ästad Vingård resort. Driving past the international border between Denmark and Sweden was simple. We showed our passports and had to tell them where we planned to stay. That’s it!
If possible, fly into Gothenburg airport and rent a car from there – only a 90 minute drive!
The hotel is able to arrange transportation to and from the Gothenburg airport if you don’t want to rent a car.
After a long flight with little sleep, we found ourselves wondering on our drive, “is this worth it?” Rest assured, Ästad Vingård is worth every minute! We had an unforgettable four-day experience.
Ästad Vingård Hotel Room Review
We absolutely love the Scandinavian design of the Ästad Vingård “overwater bungalows” aka SJÖPARKEN. The decor is minimalist, but utterly quaint, peaceful, and restorative.
If you’re looking for a place to completely relax, this is the room for you. In addition to having access to the Sinnenas Spa, these bungalows boast private saunas.
Your private sauna looks out to a gorgeous freshwater pond. We recommend taking a cold plunge in the pond if you are brave enough! We also loved the details – a spa-like playlist is already loaded into the room’s surround sound, helping your to relax from the moment you check in.
This was the most relaxing 4 days we’ve ever spent. Every ounce of daily stress melted away.
Ästad Vingård Spa – Sinnenas Spa Review
The Sinnenas Spa is located just behind the hotel lobby – a brief walk from your hotel room – and offers over a dozen saunas and steam rooms. There are several indoor and outdoor options to choose from, ranging in temperature (as low as 105 to over 200 degrees). You’ll also find rain shower rooms, foot scrub stations, greenhouse relaxation room, and fresh outdoor cold water plunges.
If the spa experience makes you hungry, take advantage of the delicious lunch served here. Most booking packages at Ästad Vingård include meals at Restaurant Logen, but be aware that spa food may not be included in your booking! Make sure to double check before ordering.
The staff is attentive, but also very respectful of your time and space.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Ästad Vingård and would 100% recommend it to anyone traveling to Sweden who is looking for a luxurious, tranquil spa experience.
