Silver Turtles are perfect for large groups because they’re super customizable, so everyone can do their own thing. Prep
Ahead of car camping, make sure to prep the following items and have them in individual baggies to make breakfast extra easy and cleanup a breeze!
- Bacon bits – either buy them premade or make your own prior to camping
- Proteins – either use something like deli meats and precooked sausages, or prep your own ground beef/chicken/turkey ahead of time to your liking and have it in an airtight container.
- Onions, Tomatoes, Potatoes – finely chop ahead of time and keep in separate baggies
- When you’re at the campsite, you’ll turn all these items into a buffet that people can pick and choose from!

Everyone needs two large pieces of aluminum foil. Place a wet paper towel square between the two sheets of aluminum to speed up the cooking over the campfire.
Fold the aluminum foil into a boat, and tightly seal the edges.
- Add in any meats/potatoes you’d like.
- Top off with onions, tomatoes as desired.
- Crack eggs into the aluminum foil boat.
- Add seasonings to taste.
- Seal the silver turtle. Everyone can make their turtle look a little different to remember whose is whose in the fire!
Cook over a campfire or charcoal – every situation is different, but usually about 20 minutes will do it!
Once cooked, top of off with shredded lettuce, sour cream, more tomatoes, guacamole, or whatever you’d like!
Eat your delicious camping breakfast directly out of the aluminum foil … OR you can easily turn these into breakfast burritos!
