Best Restaurants in Samos for Authentic Greek Food
1. Όπως Παλιά (“Like Before”) – Epar.Od. Karlovasou – Platanos, Samos 832 00, Greece
On Google Maps, “Like Before” only shows up in Greek as “Όπως Παλιά.” They don’t bother to put in an English translation, and with good reason! Like Before is authentic Greek food at it’s finest. Just as the restaurant name suggests, this place brings you back to another era. In an age of modern concepts, we love Like Before for its rich tradition.
This is one of our most treasured family restaurants. The food is incredibly fresh and very reasonably priced. Try the lamp chops or chicken with some house white wine.
2. Dionysos Restaurant – Πλατεία 8ης Μαϊου, Neo Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
You’ll find this restaurant in an area of Karlovasi called Meseon, across the street from a beautiful Greek Orthodox church. A restaurant in the “heart” of a city needs to have character, and Dionysos has plenty of it. The menu is comprehensive and full of Greek staples. We typically will get some type of pasta with goat or lamb, and patates tiganites (french fries) with tzatziki. Be sure to ask if they have any specials!
3. Stenáki – Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
Nestled on a hill and small alley in downtown Karlovasi, Stenáki is superb. This quaint restaurant has lots of charm, and we particularly love their saganaki (fried cheese) plate, among many other traditional fare.
After dinner enjoy exploring downtown Karlovasi (or as we like to call it, “The Big K!”)
4. Sama – Unnamed Road, Koumeika 831 04, Greece
Search for “Sama” on your navigation system, and you’ll find the restaurant is located on an “Unnamed Road.” With an Unnamed Road location, Sama is not likely to be on most tourists’ radar, but we can’t recommend this hidden gem enough! Every bite is delightful, and the town setting is perfectly quaint. We loved this place so much, we ate there twice during our latest visit.
This is a perfect restaurant to dine at after swimming at Kaladakia Beach. Read more about our 13 Best Samos Greece Beaches here.

5. Ailos – Agios Konstantinos 832 00, Greece
When it comes to breathtaking beachfront Greek restaurants, Ailos is in a league of its own. A restaurant like this would be swamped in the tourist areas like Kokkari or Pythagoreio, but has a much more intimate/private vibe in Agios Konstantinos.
What would easily cost several hundred dollars in the United States, we came in under $100 (with 4 people!) We came here for Sue’s (Larry’s mother) birthday, and it was an incredible experience. 10 out of 10 recommend for lunch or dinner. The views alone are worth it, but the food and service will keep us coming back!
Tip: If you’ll be dining during sunset hours, try to reserve a table ahead of time during high season!
6. Potami Beach Bar – ΠΟΤΑΜΙ, Neo Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
Don’t let the name “Potami Beach Bar” guide you towards only having refreshments. While the drinks are marvelous (we highly recommend a cold espresso, a Mythos or Alpha beer, or even a cocktail made with local Samos wine), everything on the menu here is excellent. Among their many delicious choices, we recommend their stuffed grape leaves, zucchini flowers, and Greek salad. In addition to these appetizers (or “mezes” in Greek), they will often include a desert (like watermelon) free of charge.
We also love this place as the restaurant delivers service to its beach patrons, and there is no additional cost for their beach chairs.
7. Epiouzion Restaurant Samos – 1, Λιμνιώνας Μαραθόκαμπος Σάμος 831 02, Greece
This restaurant is found on the southwest part of the island near in Limnionas. You’ll find beautiful view of the Aegean, and super fresh food. We usually come for lunch after spending the morning and early afternoon at Limnionas Beach. Read more about our 13 Best Samos Greece Beaches here.
8. Restaurant Posidonio – Ποσειδώνιο 831 00, Greece
Posidonio is located on the eastern side of the island. Be ready for a little adventuring, as getting to Posidonio requires some patient driving. We were in awe of this small village. As you sit down at the restaurant, you can peer out into the small port. The port is sheltered, which brings a sense of peace and serenity. Look across the bay and you’ll find Turkey in very close proximity!
After enjoying some delectable dishes, have fun throwing a few bread crumbs to the copious amount of fish hovering off the docks! Spend some time relaxing at nearby Klima Beach before or after lunch.
9. Vouros Restaurant – vourou, Ireo 831 03, ireon 831 03, Grece
This family style restaurant is located on the southern part of Samos. The restaurant serves traditional Greek dishes, but known for fresh fish. It is run by a charming and friendly guy named Nikos, and his mother is a magnificent chef. They even have gorgeous postcards you can take with you as souvenirs! Highly recommend!
10. The Fishermen – Αγ. Νικόλαος 832 00, Greece
This restaurant offers some of the most picturesque sunset views in Samos. As you might expect from a place called The Fisherman, we recommend you stick with seafood here. The fresh catch of the day which was outstanding! And the sunset views alone are worth dining here. There’s also a very small, lovely church right outside the restaurant, which adds to the ambience.
11. Tavern Angelos – Κάμπος Μαραθοκάμπου 831 02, Greece
Located along Votsalakia beach, his is a relaxed, traditional, no frills type place. Come as you are and enjoy a Mythos, Alpha, or Mamos. The restaurant also offers beach lounge chairs at no additional cost! Very casual and chill spot with authentic Greek staples at an affordable price.
12. To Tzivaeri – Kon/nou Kanari, Neo Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
This ouzeri (type of Greek tavern) offers mezedes (small finger food), and of course, ouzo! Be sure to always cut your ouzo with water, as it can have an intense licorice taste. There is also plenty of fresh seafood to choose from!

13. Taverna Ydroussa – ΥΔΡΟΥΣΣΑ 1, Idroussa 832 00, Greece
While there are plenty of amazing Greek restaurants near various beaches and town centers, you’re not fully experiencing Samos without visiting some of the picturesque mountain villages. Tavern Ydroussa has stunning views looking down and out towards the many towns of Samos and the big blue Aegean sea. The food here is delectable and very reasonably priced.
14. Archontissa – Επαρ.Οδ. Καρλοβάσου – Λέκκας, Neo Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
In order to get to this restaurant, you’ll have to earn it. This restaurant is only available by foot from the trailhead to Potami Waterfalls, and you’ll have to hike a bit. Be cautious and wear shoes with plenty of traction. After building up an appetite, we devoured our lunch.
Between the views, the food, and the throwback firewood stove, Archotissa is an extremely unique experience you won’t want to miss! The service staff was also incredibly friendly. Love this place!
15. ο Κέντρο (“The Center”) – Konteika 832 00, Greece
Another outstanding restaurant you won’t want to miss is “Κέντρο” or simply “Center.” The Center restaurant is located in the small mountain village of Konteika.
If you’ve read this far through, you’re in for a treat. This restaurant is a hidden gem nestled in a lovely town center. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and welcoming, the people are very kind, and the food is always excellent and well priced. This restaurant truly is a rare find.
16. Orizontas – Epar.Od. Karlovasou – Platanos, Samos 832 00, Greece
This excellent mountain top restaurant is well known for its modern take on Greek food and has stunning mountain views of the north and south side of the island. Over the years, Orizontas has become quite popular for its scenic views, even among tourists. Due to the steep price tag, we would recommend reserving this restaurant for “special occasions.”
17. Akamatra – Agias Triados, Neo Karlovasi 832 00, Greece
Akamatra is in old town (Paleo) Karlovasi. Even if you don’t go to Akamatra, this old area of town is worth visiting. When we sat down for dinner, children were playing soccer just down the road from the village center. There’s something special about seeing families and their kids enjoying the outdoors and playing games in the street while people enjoy a harmonious meal.
For dinner, we recommend souvlaki or any of their specials.
Before or after dinner, take a walk up to the Holy Trinity church (Agia Triada). The church has commanding views over Karlovasi and is a very nice place to watch sunset and see what Karlovasi looks like at night.

This Orthodox church offers stunning views onto Karlovasi
