Potami Beach
Right next to the town of Karlovasi is Potami Beach. This is one the bigger beaches on Samos, and has immaculate views of the Aegean. Depending on the weather (typically when it’s windy), you’ll find big waves. To the right of the beach, the waves are a bit smaller. This is also a wonderful place to get a sunset swim in. They serve drinks and snacks on the beach, and the chairs are free – at least if you’re entering from the Potami Beach Bar area.
For lunch, we highly recommend the restaurant Potami Beach Bar. Everything on the menu is excellent and the owner is a gem of a guy. Among their many delicious choices, we enjoyed some white wine, with stuffed grape leaves, stuffed zucchini flowers, Pastichio (Greek’s version of lasagna), and a Greek salad. Best of all, they always serve desert free of charge. Typically it’s watermelon, but sometimes they surprise. Either way, it’s always a nice treat after a delicious meal.
As you peer out to Potami, you’ll see a beautiful church sitting on top of a cliff to the right side of the beach. This is Agios Nicholas (St. Nicholas). It has quickly become a popular spot to snap some sunset pictures in the evening, and one of the most beautiful places in all of Samos. The video above is shot from Potami as well.
